FIREPLACES & STOVES
(posted 01/25/2010)
Burning wood in home fireplaces and stoves on “bad air” nights became illegal in Fall 2009. Lighting up is banned during “Spare the Air” alerts. Burning wood is deemed a health threat and the air district will impose a fixed fine of $400 for second time violators. The air district will give the public more advance notice this year of no-burn alerts; 10 hours instead of 2 hours.
